Madrid's determined pursuit of Mbappe has been met with disappointment on a number of occasions. Most notably in 2022, when the striker's change of heart caused embarrassment for and fury in the La Liga offices. But even with the extension Mbappe signed due to expire in 2024, it seems that Madrid with their talented crop of young superstars no longer see the France captain's signature as the prize it once was.
