Amorim has emerged as the favourite to replace Jurgen Klopp after the German tactician announced his intention to leave at the end of the season. There had been fevered speculation that the Reds would turn to Xabi Alonso, their former midfielder, but the Bayer Leverkusen boss has since confirmed that he will remain at the BayArena. As a result, focus has shifted towards Amorim, with Sporting currently one point clear of Benfica at the top of the Portuguese Liga NOS.
