Wolves fans have taken to Twitter to reveal that they think Patrick Cutrone is going to leave the club, after he was replaced on the bench by Oskar Burr just moments before kick-off against Liverpool on Sunday.
The Italy international was originally named amongst the substitutes at Anfield, but was replaced by 21-year-old Burr – The Express and Star’s Wolves correspondent Joe Edwards asked Nuno Espirito Santo why that was amid a supposed illness for Cutrone, but the Portuguese boss responded only with the following:
“It was something we decided. We decided to have Matt Doherty on the bench. It’s different options on the bench, yes.”
Cutrone only arrived at Molineux back in the summer in a deal worth £16m from AC Milan, but he has already been linked back to Italy with Tuttosport (via Football Italia) reporting that Fiorentina are interested in signing the 21-year-old – Sport Italia (cited by Calciomercato) also reported that the Wolves No.10 is eager to join the Serie A side.
Significantly, Cutrone hasn’t been handed much game time by Nuno this term having made just three Premier League starts, as well as three Europa League starts and two in the Carabao Cup.
Impressively, the forward has still scored three goals for the Midlands-based side, although after he was replaced on the bench by Burr, these Wolves fans on Twitter are fearing the worst.
For a start, these two supporters kept their responses short, but significant, in coming to the conclusion that Cutrone is gone after his withdrawal from the bench against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Furthermore, this pair of fans echoed those concerns by stating that Cutrone is “off” following the important team news prior to kick-off against the Merseysiders, with another concluding that the Italian must be “gone”.
This fan named Mathew was sure in his verdict that Cutrone is “100% heading back to Italy” and also stated that they’d be surprised if the striker doesn’t leave before January 5th, just days into the transfer window reopening.
Lastly, ‘The Wolves Chat’ also stated that Cutrone is “off” before going on to say that it’s “absolutely pivotal” that Nuno signs at least two players in January – squad depth will be key as Wolves embark into the knockout stages of the Europa League.
In other news, these Wolves fans have piled the praise on a rarely-seen player who impressed against Liverpool…
