Since leaving United, where Lingard had spent the majority of his career, his form has been inconsistent. A brief and unremarkable spell at Nottingham Forest saw the playmaker struggle to find his rhythm, leading many to question if the England international could ever regain his lost mojo. This February, Lingard made a surprising move to the K League in South Korea, signing with FC Seoul. His early performances were underwhelming, but his recent resurgence, when he scored four goals in nine matches, has been a silver lining.

Unfortunately for Lingard, the joy of his goal and subsequent celebration was short-lived. Just 35 minutes after his dance-filled celebration, Daejeon Hana Citizen found the back of the net once more, securing an 83rd-minute winner and sending FC Seoul to a disappointing defeat. To rub salt into the wounds, Kim Hyeon-ug, the player who scored the decisive goal, cheekily mocked Lingard’s earlier celebration with a dance of his own. The taunt left Lingard visibly frustrated, and what started as a moment of triumph quickly turned into one of disappointment.
