da apostebet: Australia have finished 1st in the Pool on 24 points
da premier bet: ICC CWC 2003 Media Information02-Mar-2003Following today’s Australia v England result, the scenarios for the Pakistanv Zimbabwe game are as follows:Australia have finished 1st in the Pool on 24 points.
India have finished 2nd in the Pool on 20 points. If Zimbabwe win the match then they will finish 3rd on 16 points.
If there is a Tie or a No Result then Zimbabwe will finish 3rd on 14 points. If Pakistan beat Zimbabwe there will be a 3-way tie between themselves,Zimbabwe and England on 12 points each. As Pakistan will have beatenZimbabwe, Zimbabwe beaten England and England beaten Pakistan each team willhave one win in matches played between them. The finishing positions willthen be decided by net run-rate. As Zimbabwe will have lost in this scenarioit is impossible for their net run-rate to surpass England’s, and they willthus not qualify for the Super Six. For Pakistan to qualify for the SuperSix they will need to ensure that their net run-rate is above England’s. Forthem to achieve this the following example targets will apply:
If Zimbabwe bat first and score 100, Pakistan will need to get the runs in10.5 overs. If Zimbabwe bat first and score 150, Pakistan will need to get the runs in12.1 overs. If Zimbabwe bat first and score 200, Pakistan will need to get the runs in13.2 overs. If Zimbabwe bat first and score 250, Pakistan will need to get the runs in14.2 overs. If Pakistan bat first and score 200 they will need to dismiss Zimbabwe for13 or less.If Pakistan bat first and score 250 they will need to dismiss Zimbabwe for62 or less.If Pakistan bat first and score 300 they will need to dismiss Zimbabwe for112 or less.If Pakistan bat first and score 350 they will need to dismiss Zimbabwe for161 or less.
Note that these targets are approximate in the event of Zimbabwe battingfirst, as they assume that Pakistan pass the target by 1 run. It is possiblethat they could get the winning runs with a six and thus pass the target by6 runs. Thus it is possible that they may have an extra ball or twoavailable if they do this.Statistics by Andrew Samson
