The 27-year-old won't play for the Gunners again this season due to a knee injury but was visibly ecstatic as they won the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final clash 2-1, punching the air and celebrating wildly as goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli sent Mikel Arteta's team through to the semi-finals.

Gabriel has established himself as one of Arteta's most important players in recent years, developing into a no-nonsense central defender with an eye for goal, especially from set-piece situations. However, he suffered a season-ending injury against Fulham earlier this month to add to the north London side's injury woes.

In Gabriel's absence, Jakub Kiwior partnered William Saliba at the Bernabeu as Arsenal kept the Madrid attack of Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham largely quiet in a 2-1 victory, setting up a semi-final tie with Paris Saint-Germain.
WHAT NEXT FOR GABRIEL AND ARSENAL?
Gabriel recently underwent surgery on his injury but is hoping to be fit for the start of the 2025-26 season. As for Arsenal, their next outing is a trip to struggling Ipswich on Sunday as they seek to secure second place in the Premier League behind expected champions Liverpool. Their first meeting with PSG, who survived a scare against Aston Villa to progress, comes at the Emirates at the end of April.
