Better late than never, right?
USMNT's Jesus Ferreira finally got on the scoresheet for the Seattle Sounders, capping a brilliant touch and turn to finish past CJ dos Santos and give a 1-0 lead over San Diego FC. The home team would bunker down and hold on to secure three points.
Prior to the match, Ferreira had gone 15 games without scoring for Seattle – although he has stepped up his playmaking with five assists on the season.

Ferreira, who scored 53 goals in 163 matches for FC Dallas as their leading man, was brought in by Seattle in high-profile move to help add a scoring punch to a contending team that struggled to score at times last season.
Despite an injury to the team's other star striker in Jordan Morris, and Ferreira having his issues with finishing, the Sounders now sit fourth in a competitive Western Conference. If the U.S. striker can get back to his best, this game might be the spark behind it.

As a member of the U.S. national team, Ferreira has 15 goals in 23 appearances. His last appearance for the Americans came in July 12, 2023, during the Gold Cup semifinals.
