The transfer saga surrounding Brian Rodríguez has come to an end, with the Uruguayan forward set to remain at Club América. The Mexican giants have reportedly offered him a four-year contract extension.
Qatari side Al Rayyan had been prepared to pay close to $10 million for Rodríguez – whose market value is estimated at $7 million – but the deal has now fallen through. América’s proposal would extend his current contract, originally expiring in June 2026, through 2030.

Rodríguez, now 25, joined América in 2022 and has since played 111 official matches across all competitions, registering 27 goals and 18 assists. Over the summer, there was also interest from Inter Miami – something the player himself confirmed. His agent was notably active in making comments about the winger’s future, but in the end Rodríguez chose to remain in Mexico, believing it gives him a stronger chance of securing a spot at the 2026 World Cup.

The player’s agent, Edgardo Lasalvia, expressed his frustration with América’s handling of the situation in an interview with ESPN. He argued the club “should have renewed him earlier and not just 10 months before the contract expires, since in four months the player could sign a pre-contract and América would receive no money.”
Even so, Lasalvia dismissed that possibility, stressing, “This is not our way; we have always been grateful to the clubs that open their doors to us.”
