In what was an undeniable roller-coaster ride, Everton were on the right end of a dramatic comeback victory over Watford on Saturday afternoon.
The Toffees had fallen two goals behind just before the break, but Yerry Mina’s quickfire double brought them back on level terms. However, Fabian Delph’s red card appeared to swing things back in the home side’s favour, until Theo Walcott ensured Carlo Ancelotti’s side enjoyed the last laugh with a last-gasp, injury-time winner.
But whilst Mina and Walcott will be the talk of the town for their goal-scoring displays, the contributions of Djibril Sidibe should not be forgotten. The AS Monaco loanee produced a battling performance at right-back, and was every bit as key in Everton’s win at the weekend.

As per Sofascore, he made a quite ridiculous eight tackles over the course of the 90 minutes he was on the pitch – more than double that of the man in second for Everton, Lucas Digne. Sidibe’s superb defensive showing also extended to him making an impressive three clearances and three interceptions, both of which were amongst the team’s best.
However, the £10.8m-rated ace also provided an attacking outlet for Ancelotti’s men too. He enjoyed the most amount of touches of anyone in an Everton shirt with 99, and managed one key pass, two accurate crosses and two accurate long balls.

Sidibe shone at both ends of the pitch when the Toffees needed him most, and his fantastic battling spirit (as evidenced by his mammoth 14 total duels won – another team-high) was a key reason behind why they went on to win the game late on.
So whilst Mina and Walcott may take the plaudits for finding the back of the net, Sidibe’s name is worth a deserved mention too when people look back at the game on Saturday. Ancelotti should be thanking the Frenchman for sticking to his task both offensively and defensively, and doing his work with the minimum of fuss and away from the spotlight.
Meanwhile, Everton fans have hailed this ace after his performance against Watford.
